build confidence and develop a love of reading, writing and math.

review, practice and extend what students are learning in their fourth grade classroom.

build comprehension skills practicing inferencing and drawing conclusions, finding main idea and details, summarizing, sequencing, and differentiating between fact and opinion.

learn to provide text evidence to support comprehension in both fiction and nonfiction texts.

learn to monitor comprehension, ask meaningful questions, make connections and establish a purpose for reading.

develop a stronger vocabulary working with context clues, analogies, idioms, prefixes/suffixes, synonyms/antonyms, and multiple meaning words.

develop a love of literary, expository and procedural writing with a focus on conventions.

develop the essential building blocks for a stronger math foundation with a focus on number sense and place value, higher level multiplication and division problems, fractions and decimals, patterns and tables, geometry, probability and statistics, and financial literacy.

develop problem solving skills and strategies for attacking multi-step word problems.
