  • Population genetics researcher in labs at Tulane University and the American Museum of Natural History during undergraduate and graduate studies

  • Author of publication in The Wilson Journal of Ornithology entitled Phylogeography and geographic variation in the Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus): characterization of mtDNA and plumage hybrid zones

  • 10 years of teaching experience in private education, teaching courses and acting as the team lead for on-level biology, honors biology, AP Biology, and AP Environmental Science

  • Recipient of teaching award honoring teachers who strive to be critically-reflective educators who engage in development in light of new research, best practices, social and cultural changes,and feedback from students and colleagues in the teaching-learning process

  • Mentors new teachers and leads professional development workshops

  • Quiz Bowl Coach

  • Trained in Modeling pedagogy through the American Modeling Teachers Association, an inquiry-based means of instruction which involves hands-on lab experiences for students combined with data analysis and utilization of the Socratic method 

  • Certified Texas Master Naturalist (Class of 2021), contributing 40+ volunteer hours a year, typically assisting with training classes

  • International trip chaperone on educational (Marine biology in the British Virgin Islands) and service trips (Ecuador).

  • In my free time, I enjoy playing with my boston terrier, spending time with my husband, painting, playing video games, traveling (especially to New Orleans) and doing all of the New York Times word games.
